UFC icon Conor McGregor takes on Dustin Poirier this weekend
The Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier bout gets closer and closer with each passing day. The two lightweight legends are scheduled to collide at UFC 257, which takes place on 24th January.
The main event of the PPV, between the Irishman and the American, has understandably been hyped a lot. The two met in UFC 178 in 2014, where the Notorious One won.
Things, however, have changed. Khabib Nurmagomedov is the lightweight champion, McGregor is back from retirement, and The Diamond has evolved in recent years.
Moreover, the fight has a lot at stake. The winner supposedly gets first in line to have a shot at the lightweight title.
In light of this, many UFC fighters have been laying out their predictions for the much-awaited bout. And now, one of the greatest to ever do it, Georges St Pierre, has also had his say on the fight.
GSP has some stellar advice for both Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier ahead of UFC 257
The Canadian stated what the key to victory would be for both the fighters. Speaking in a video on Twitter on his own account, GSP said about McGregor:
“He would need to start the fight with a lot of pressure; use all his creativity, all his kicks. Try to bake Dustin, throw his jab, so he can come over the top with his favourite weapon; his left hand.”
About Poirier, the UFC legend said that Diamond would need to be on the defensive at times, but be prepared to counter attack.
“Use a lot of fake, a lot of movement in order to make McGregor throw with a lot of power and miss; perhaps even try to wrestle him.”
GSP is one of the best to ever do it inside the octagon, and he is spot on with his analysis here. It remains to be seen which of the two could get the victory on the night and stay on course to become the new lightweight champion.
