Former UFC fighter Henry Cejudo was not happy with Alexander Volkanovski taking up the fight against ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung
At UFC 272, Alexander Volkanovski was scheduled to fight Max Holloway in a trilogy fight. Due to an injury, Holloway was forced to withdraw.
A number of names were thrown into the mix – Chan Sung Jung, Yair Rodriguez and former fighter Henry Cejudo were the notable names.
However, it only took a few days before Volkanovski’s opponent was decided – ‘The Korean Zombie.’ The number 4 ranked featherweight will face the Aussie on the 9th of April, 2022 at UFC 273.
‘TKZ’ is coming off a unanimous decision win over Dan Ige on the 19th of June, 2021. Volkanovski, meanwhile, last beat Brian Ortega at UFC 266. He is unbeaten in the UFC, despite having made his debut in 2016.
Henry Cejudo unhappy with Alexander Volkanovski
Henry Cejudo was not happy following the Volkanovski-Chan Sung Jung fight announcement. ‘Triple C’ hit out at Volk on Twitter. He wrote:
“Hey @alexvolkanovski it figures you would go for the Zombie…and not the guy that would turn you into the Walking Dead.“
Cejudo announced his retirement after beating Dominick Cruz via. second-round TKO at UFC 249. He beat Cruz to become the UFC Bantamweight Champion that night.
In the post-fight interview, he shocked the world by announcing his retirement. Despite teasing very often about a possible comeback, Cejudo never really came out of retirement. In fact, his name was removed from the USADA testing pool as well.
