Conor McGregor has just one professional boxing fight to his name, against Floyd Mayweather
During the peak of his physical powers, Conor McGregor faced boxing great Floyd Mayweather in a professional boxing bout in August 2017. He lost the fight via. TKO in the 10th round.
But, ‘The Irishman’ was lauded for showing grit and determination to get into the ring with arguably the greatest boxer of all time.
One of Mayweather’s greatest rivals was Oscar De La Hoya. The 48-year old American faced Mayweather in 2007, and almost pulled off a win, going down narrowly via. a split decision loss.
De La Hoya recently caught up with boxing great Mike Tyson and former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo. In a video posted by ES News, Cejudo can be seen claiming that De La Hoya would beat up McGregor easily in a boxing match.
“Oscar would put him away. He’s a killer, he’s not a Mayweather. He’s not a defensive guy. If he were to fight Conor [McGregor] in boxing, Conor wouldn’t last a minute, I swear to you…Left hook, jab.”
De La Hoya will be facing former UFC veteran Vitor Belfort in an exhibition boxing bout on the 11th of September. The fight will be for 8 rounds, with each round lasting 2 minutes.
The weight limit for Belfort is 190lbs, whereas for De La Hoya it is 175lbs. Triller Productions will be hosting the event.
Belfort has just one professional boxing fight to his name, which came in 2006, against fellow Brazilian Josemario Neves. He won the fight via knockout in the first round.
De La Hoya, on the other hand, hasn’t stepped inside a boxing ring since his last fight against Manny Pacquiao in 2008.
