Dana White spoke about how Vince McMahon has done well with WWE during these times
Dana White announced the final fight card for UFC 249 but that had one major change. Khabib Nurmagomedov was out of the main event and Justin Gaethje was his replacement.
The Russian was stuck in his homeland due to the coronavirus outbreak and Gaethje would now fight Tony Ferguson.
Brett Okamoto was speaking with the UFC president and he was defiant that a lot of people wanted to get back to normal.
Most sports leagues are off but White heaped praised on Vince McMahon for keeping WWE going:
“I am ready to get back, I think a lot of other people are ready to get back.
“First of all, everybody is afraid to be first. The only guy right now who isn’t afraid is me and Vince McMahon.
“Vince McMahon hasn’t skipped a beat. What he did was he found solutions, he found ways to get rid of the crowd and I am sure he is doing everything in his power to make sure his guys are safe.
“Right now, you need leadership, to go out and find solutions, hiding in the house is not the answer.”
WrestleMania in an empty arena
McMahon was able to shift the entire WWE roster to the Performance Center in a matter of weeks. WWE has shot several shows in that arena and even held a two-day WrestleMania recently.
White also seems to be thinking along the same lines as he highlighted that an island was ready for him.
He claimed that international fights would be held on that island, and even Okamoto was surprised at this suggestion.
While it was easier for McMahon to get his bit done, White will find it more challenging. Bringing fighters from all across the world is an issue, but the UFC president added that the health and safety of all his workers were always priorities.
It will be interesting to see how UFC 249 goes first. While also added that the three postponed events would take place soon and promised to keep pumping out fight cards for the UFC.
