Angela Hill, Matt Riddle, Lauren Murphy and other UFC stars praise new marijuana ruling

The UFC has made sweeping changes regarding the use of marijuana and cannabis from its fighters

The UFC finally decided to take cannabis or marijuana off the list of drugs that could get stars suspended.

Many stars have spoken out about this issue as some use the drug for its calming nature. Others also use it to help with injuries but the UFC hasn’t accepted this view for a while.

Matt Riddle is currently signed with the WWE (WWE)

However, a release from the company confirmed that “positive tests over the threshold and decision limit for carboxy-THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis” would not be considered a violation of their anti-doping policy.

This is a welcome move from the UFC as many stars advocate the use of cannabis and its related products.

However, the state athletic commissions still have their rules and regulations about the same. Jeff Novitzky, the UFC VP of Athlete health and Performance went on to say:

“The bottom line is that in regard to marijuana, we care about what an athlete consumed the day of a fight, not days or weeks before a fight, which has often been the case in our historic positive THC cases.

“UFC Athletes will still be subject to marijuana rules under various Athletic Commission regulations, but we hope this is a start to a broader discussion and changes on this issue with that group.”
