Holly Holm trusts good friend Jon Jones to light up the UFC heavyweight division
Jon Jones vacated his UFC light heavyweight belt not long ago to make the step up to the heavyweight division. And since then, people have been predicting what it would be like for him moving up from 205 lbs.
And talking about it this week on MMA Junkie was his gym partner and former UFC champion, Holly Holm. Holm thinks that Jones will do.
She says that despite the KO power of the heavyweight division, Jones would prevail at 265 because he knows how to perform when the heat is really on.
‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ is very confident of the hard work that ‘Bones’ is putting in.
“He’s been putting in a lot of time and effort into getting stronger and taking care of himself. Jon always knows how to take a lot of pressure and embrace it.
“There’s a lot of things that makes Jon great, and a lot of things that makes Jon unbeatable, and of those things is that he really does well with a lot of pressure.”
Who could Jon Jones fight next in heavyweight?
Jones has taken the step up to heavyweight but the question now is who he faces in the division. He is expected to get a shot at the title straight away and it could be against the winner of Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou 2 at UFC 260.
And Holm believes that Jones is going to give it a 100% in that division despite the challenge that lies ahead of him.
“He’s a champion for a reason. And he is not going to heavyweight and just do half-a**.
“He’s going to jump in… He’s going to go with purpose, he’s going to go with intent, he’s going to go with the will to want to do it. And in order to do so, he is going to do it right. And that’s what he has always done.”
Jones is a winner. He is agile, he is fast, and he is strong. But all of that would be put to the test when he goes up against guys like Ngannou or Miocic.
Moving up a division is always tough but Jones has the tools to overcome the power game of his Heavyweight rivals.
