Former UFC fighter Horacio Gutierrez shares advice given to him by Khabib Nurmagomedov in training
Former The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America contender and UFC fighter, Horacio Gutierrez, has apparently been training with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The UFC lightweight champion shared some advice with ‘The Punisher’, and he was happy to share it with his fans on Twitter.
The Mexican posted a video of him practising his ‘ground and pound’ game, because he was told to focus on it by ‘The Eagle’.
Nurmagomedov has been in the ear of several MMA fighters recently as he adjusts to life as a corner-man and ‘coach’ instead of fighter.
Khabib and Islam Makhachev’s coach, Javier Mendez, even talked about he felt on The Eagle’s debut as a corner-man and a ‘coach’ at Makhachev’s UFC 259 fight.
Belal Muhammad also revealed that he trained with the Russian superstar before his Leon Edwards fight. Unfortunately, ‘Remember the Name’ had a fight to forget.
Gutierrez competed in TUF Latin America and managed to make it to UFC. The 7-3-0 fighter currently competes as a featherweight.
But he has been inactive lately. The Mexican’s last fight came all the way back in December 2019 in Combate America (CAMMA).
His UFC record is not so good, though. He did win both his fights, against Daniel Salas and Polo Reyes in the 2nd season of TUF Latin America, but lost the next two fights.
These defeats came at UFC Fight Night 78 against Enrique Barzola and at UFC Fight Night 92 when he lost to Teruto Ishihara.
His time with the UFC ended after that and he has continued to fight in various promotions, with last 3 of his fights coming in the CAMMA. But as his tweet above suggests, he seems hungry for a return to the biggest stage in MMA.
