Ronaldo Jacare Souza tested positive for Covid-19 and is out of UFC 249
Uriah Hall posted a supportive message for Ronaldo Jacare Souza who tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of UFC 249.
The former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion was part of the UFC 249 weigh-in and was wearing a mask and gloves.
However, he was possibly the only one to have taken that step. The UFC constantly kept cleaning the scales in between the weigh-ins but the Hall vs Souza fight has been cancelled.
Hall, who has a record of 15 wins and nine losses, posted a great message for his rival. The Middleweight star wished him and his family the best for the recovery ahead.
Hall also said that he was devastated for the decision and was also sorry his rival had to go through this.
This was Hall’s first fight since September 2019, and it will be interesting to see if someone else can step up on short notice.
A couple of Souza’s training members also tested positive for the virus. However, UFC 249 is still going to go ahead.
Ariel Helwani posted news regarding that, and it will be interesting to see how the UFC deals with all this.
The safety of all stars has been the priority of Dana White, but this is a big issue nevertheless. UFC 249 is the first event from the promotion in over a month, and a cloud now hangs over the show.
There are several top fights scheduled for this card with two belts on the line. Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson made weight for the interim UFC Lightweight title clash.
The other big fight is between Henry Cejudo and Dominick Cruz for the Bantamweight title.
