Brock Lesnar has gone on to say that he could have been paid more in the UFC
If there is one man who can do everything in the combat world then it’s got to be Brock Lesnar. The man can fight, put up a show and whatnot. Intimidating by appearance and a huge passion for fighting, Brock Lesnar has earned a name for himself in both WWE and UFC.
How many UFC athletes have managed to build a reputation for themselves with just 8 fights in their resume? It should also be mentioned that he was well supported by UFC. Dana White doesn’t support anyone without a reason. He saw the potential in Brock and used that potential to both their benefits.
Brock Lesnar took no time in grabbing the attention of the UFC world. He was always a reputed one in the WWE circuit but he was questioned about his real ability to fight inside the octagon. Brock took that as a challenge and went on to impress the UFC world not only by winning the fights but also in the way he approached every fight. This wasn’t the case always with Brock. He lost his UFC debut in 2008 to Frank Mir.
Brock Lesnar, then, just 1-0, in his MMA career, took on Frank Mir on his debut in 2008. He lost the fight which could have even spelt the doom on his career. However, he went to become one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.
Speaking about the same in an interview with Pat McAfee, he said:
“I was so mad at myself. It just built another thing that the people ram down your throat and say you can’t do something. Love those people. Love them. I get goosebumps for that. I had a one fight deal with UFC and I was like, ‘Please give me another shot at this.’ Boom, then it took off. I fought Heath Herring and then I got Randy Couture and won the belt.” [via The SportsRush]
On the salary he received from UFC and about Dana White, Lesnar said:
“Dana’s all right. I have got a lot of money from him. I probably should have got paid more, maybe.“
