“I was dead, my knees were shot” – Will Harris highlights brutal training Khabib Nurmagomedov and friends go through during practice

Will Harris decided to try his hand out at a training method taken up by Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the greatest MMA fighters in the history of the sport, and his training is brutal, to say the least.

The Russian has been incredible since making his move to the UFC and Harris, with his production team have chronicled his rise extremely well.

Harris played basketball in college but never could make it into the top leagues, but considered himself to be in decent shape.

However, the basketball Khabib played wasn’t all that easy:

“I didn’t know what to expect. I saw Khabib and his friends play it earlier in the week and I wanted to play, I wanted to test my grit against these guys, I really thought it was gonna be easy, I thought it’s gonna be a joke.”

The college basketball star claimed that he wanted to assert his physicality on the Dagestan boys but he “underestimated” them.

“It was like being attacked by bees and you were too honey. The guys saw me dunking and touching the rim earlier so they really wanted a piece of me when I got on the court.

“Every time I got the ball they were just ready to attack.”

Crazy dedication to training

Harris even went on to say how difficult things were physically for him and how exhausted he became after a few minutes:

“About five minutes into the game I was physically exhausted. I was dead, my knees were shot.

“If I had to compare it to anything that I played growing up it would be street football with no rules.”

He also went on to say that this felt like a national sport for Dagestan and claimed Khabib’s boy would win the Gold medal in the Olympics.

Khabib is one of the hardest workers, and that seems to come from his training back home.

There was further insight into how many hours are spent to get into the best shape for Khabib and co:

“This is what they do for a warm-up. They play this game for an hour then they practice for a couple hours.

“If I had to rate this game, I will give it a nine out ten.”

The Russian is undefeated in his MMA career and is currently the Lightweight UFC champion.
