Conor McGregor lauded fellow Irishman and UFC welterweight contender Ian Garry following his stunning win over Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Charlotte
The Ian Garry train doesn’t look like it will stop any time soon. The surging welterweight, at UFC Charlotte, became the first man to stop Daniel Rodriguez. Having fought 20 times, D-Rod had just two decision losses and one submission defeat.
Garry needed hardly three minutes in the first round to see off Rodriguez. A perfectly placed head kick rocked Rodriguez, and the Irishman then finished the fight with a flurry of punches.
The win saw Garry walk away with the Performance of the Night Bonus and extend his record to 12-0 in his MMA career.
What made the win more special was Garry predicting that he would head-kick D-Rod and stop him in no time. Here is the video of Garry’s prediction ahead of the fight:
As is customary, Conor McGregor was all eyes on fellow Irishman, Ian Garry. Following his win, McGregor tweeted:
“Ian Garry. Another one! #CantStopDestiny.”
‘The Notorious’ was also impressed by Garry calling the shots – a major throwback to McGregor’s glory days and the origin of – “You can call me mystic mac because i predict these things.”
He further tweeted:
“When you call your shot and hit it, that’s special. The Shot Caller Club has a new entry, Ireland’s Ian “The Future” Garry! #NotAScratch.”
The win will soon see Garry make his debut in the top 15 of the UFC welterweight rankings.
