Khabib Nurmagomedov defends his UFC Lightweight title against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249

Russian MMA star Khabib Nurmagomedov is confident of doing well against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249.

The 31-year-old is unbeaten in his MMA career and has already defeated several top stars.

Khabib was speaking with CBS Sports and was asked to describe the fight against Ferguson in one word.

“I am focussed on finish. I’m gonna finish him, Insha Allah, second or third round.”

Khabib has been excellent since making his debut in the UFC but his next fight could be one of his toughest ever.

Ferguson has been working hard on getting into shape, and their press conference was also a huge talking point.

Khabib kicked Ferguson’s interim belt off the stage but the champion knows he faces a dangerous man.

Ferguson a tough opponent

Khabib was told that Ferguson could be the one man that could hand him a loss in the Octagon.

The Russian knew how dangerous the American is and claimed fights such as these make for great champions:

“I think so. If you watch on his list, how many fighters he beat.

“He is the real deal. The real deal. That’s why I like this fight. It’s a real challenge, a real opponent, lot of people talking about he can beat me.

“This is how you become greatest fighter. You have to beat a lot of fighters when people talk about you gonna lose.”

This would be the first fight in the Octagon between Khabib and Ferguson.

Their previous clashes were called off when one or the other picked up an injury. Hopefully, we get to see the pair at UFC 249 and they are in the best shapes.
