Paulo Costa took to Twitter to react to the ongoing #riptwitter trend
Brazilian middleweight contender Paulo Costa has built a loyal fan base thanks to his self-deprecating and humorous content on Twitter. In the few weeks since Tesla cofounder Elon Musk took over, he’s managed to fire nearly half of the company’s longtime employees, alienate swarms of users, and, some argue, worsen the global. The latest developments have concerned many, Paulo Costa included.
Following the results of a Twitter poll, Musk reinstated Donald Trump’s Twitter account on November 20. The account of the twice-impeached former US President was temporarily suspended on January 8, 2021, two days after the Capitol attacks, due to a series of Tweets he sent that Twitter largely decided were “in violation of the Glorification of Violence Policy.”
One of Musk’s first acts as Twitter CEO was to fire a large number of staff members. Following the purchase of his designation for $44 billion, the new owner of the social media platform laid off nearly half of its workforce — roughly 3,700 jobs, according to The New York Times — including design and machine learning, content moderation, sales, and advertising departments.
He also fired several employees who publicly argued with him on Twitter about how he is running the company in private Slack chats. One employee claimed he never received a formal termination notice and instead found out he was fired when Musk tweeted “he’s fired” in their heated Twitter thread.
Costa reacted to all this news on Twitter by simply saying:
“I’m leaving from America now . 🥹 thanks for everything 🇺🇸”
Brazilian middleweight Paulo Costa has come to a decision of fighting out his UFC contract. Costa has been openly vocal about fighter pay, and issues in the UFC. While he still has fights left on his contract, his mission towards finishing his contract began with the fight against Luke Rockhold at UFC 278.
The Brazilian hinted at a potential next move in his career on his official Twitter account. In the post, Paulo also made another bold criticism of his current deal with the world’s largest MMA promotion.
“My miserable contract with the UFC was up in a few short months. will expire in time . A new #boxer is coming to town!🙌””
