Impa Kasanganay shares thoughts on taking short notice fight against Khamzat Chimaev

Impa Kasanganay and Khamzat Chimaev are unbeaten in the UFC with the Swede set to fight soon

Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t have an easy fight next as he goes up against Gerald Meerschaert. The American has vowed to destroy Chimaev next but the UFC has grand plans for the Swede.

Dana White has confirmed that Chimaev should fight Demian Maia once he beats Meerschaert, and that is a bit of a risky move.

The UFC normally announces fights only after a result is done and there is a lot of planning in all this. However, White sees Chimaev as a big star and wants to cash in on him. The Swede is also 8-0 in his MMA career but another star is keen on taking him on.

The Schmo was speaking to the undefeated Impa Kasanganay ahead of the latest UFC event. Kasanganay is also 8-0 in his MMA career and defeated Maki Pitolo in his last fight.

The 26-year-old has looked impressive in the UFC and was asked about stepping in if Meerschaert failed to make it next week:

“I would love to. Chimaev, I respect you so much. You are a great warrior. I love that you are always coming to fight. Always ready to take a fight and that is my motto too.

Always wanting to fight

Kasanganay added that he wasn’t there to make speeches and was only interested in fighting. He was willing to stay in Las Vegas for a while in hopes of getting another fight soon.

Kasanganay had only turned pro in 2019 and it is incredible how quickly he has climbed into the UFC. He added that he was willing to take any fight that the UFC presented, and was open to fighting six to seven times in a year.

While Kasanganay isn’t on the minds of the UFC yet, he could do a decent job against the impressive Chimaev.

However, Kasanganay and Marvin Vettori have called out each other, and the UFC could book this clash too.
