Islam Makhachev vs Dan Hooker is a big fight for UFC 267
It was recently announced by the UFC that Dan Hooker will be taking on Islam Makhachev at the upcoming UFC 267. Makhachev has been a real problem in the light weight division and almost nobody wants to fight him next.
But Hooker on the other hand is a different breed and has accepted the fight just under a month’s notice.
Hooker is being applauded for his fearless attitude by many and amongst those is the UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski. Volkanovski took to Twitter to share his reaction on Hooker taking the fight where he said:
“@danthehangman you are the man!”
Volkanovski is certainly impressed by The Hangman as is everybody else. It’s not just because Hooker took the fight on short notice. It is worth noting that Hooker had fought just last weekend at UFC 266. Hooker got a unanimous decision victory over his opponent Nasrat Haqparast.
The Hangman was coming on from back to back losses against Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler. He got back to winning ways by defeating Haqparast. He will look to do the same against Makhachev but it is not going to be easy by any means.
Will Islam Makhachev continue his winning streak?
Makhachev is currently on a eight fight winning streak in the UFC, though he lacks some credible names under his belt. Makhachev was originally fighting Rafael Dos Anjos at the UFC 267. This was the third scheduled fight between these two however, it fell apart again.
Hooker is probably the biggest test of Makhachev’s career so far. Although Hooker has experience with guys like Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler, Makhachev will make things very difficult for him.
