Islam Makhachev came up with the goods once again, this time against Dan Hooker, at UFC 267
Islam Makhachev showed why he would be a serious threat in the lightweight division after seeing off top-ranked Dan Hooker with ease.
Just minutes into the first round, Makhachev took down Hooker, and worked on getting a submission hold.
He did get the Kimura in, moments later. A dejected Hooker had no other options, but to tap.
The win was Makhachev’s ninth in a row. He is unbeaten since October 2015. The Russian made his championship claim at the post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier.
Following his win, Makhachev took to Instagram to post a couple of photos from the fight, with the caption:
“Best team ever.”
It was a memorable day for the American Kickboxing Academy after two of their clients, Makhachev and Zubaira Tukhugov had a memorable night.
Tukhugov beat Ricardo Ramos in the preliminary card of the event.
Khabib Nurmagomedov thanks coach Javier Mendez
Khabib Nurmagomedov who was by the ringside coaching Islam Makhachev and Zubaira Tukhugov, took to Twitter to thank head coach Javier Mendez after both the fighters posted victories.
Taking to Twitter, Khabib wrote:
“Yesterday was our day. @akajav thank you so much, you are the best.”
It is worth noting that, Khabib is still undefeated as a coach.
