Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori are just a week away from their fight at UFC 263
Tensions have already begun boiling over. Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori will face-off at UFC 263, as The Nigerian defends his middleweight title for the third time.
Vettori will be looking to settle the score in his rivalry with the champ, after having lost to him previously at UFC on Fox: Poirier vs Gaethje, back in April 2018.
With just a week left for the fight, the pair squared off in a virtual interview hosted by UFC commentator Michael Bisping. There were many a nasty exchange between the two, witnessed by arguably the greatest trash-talker in MMA history – Bisping.
In the same interview, Vettori warned Adesanya that he would take him down to grapple-city and tear him up.
“I’m just gonna wrestle you buddy. I’m just gonna come in and try to hang on on the leg and then take you down and eventually tear you up. That’s exactly what I’m gonna do buddy.”
Bisping did a good job hosting the interview.
Will Marvin Vettori decode the ‘middleweight-Izzy’ conundrum
Adesanya was undefeated going into this year. He was 20-0 in his MMA career. Hence, the Nigerian decided to test murky waters by moving up to the light-heavyweight division.
Izzy took on light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in a bid to become a two-division champion. But, his weakness on the ground was exposed by the super Pole as he took the fight to the ground, eventually winning via. unanimous decision.
Adesanya took the first L of his career. And now, given that Vettori is a very similar fighter like Blachowicz, many believe the ‘Italian Dream’ could pull off an upset, despite being the clear underdog.
