Israel Adesanya vs Jon Jones just might happen in the future
You don’t need a reminder about how much UFC superstars Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya dislike each other. They have been throwing punches on social media for months now.
This was when Adesanya was in middleweight and Jones was fighting at 205. ‘Bones’ wanted to fight ‘Izzy’ at lightweight but the Nigerian-born Kiwi never took the step up.
It was only when Bones went to heavyweight and Jan Blachowicz won the vacant belt that ‘The Last Stylebender’ made the step up.
Adesanya lost to Blachowicz and there were talks that he would go back to 185, where he is the champion. But a fight with Jon Jones just refuses to go off the table for him.
And recently, Adesanya’s coach, Eugene Bareman, stated that the fight can never ‘fizzle out’ because of how much money it would make for both the fighters.
To this, Bones replied by saying that Adesanya’s coach does not care for his health because a fight against the American would be disastrous for the Kiwi.
Now, Adesanya has himself come out to say on ESPN MMA that a fight against Jones isn’t dead despite his loss to the Pole.
“That fight is not dead. I’m coming for that a**”
Ariel Helwani asked if a fight would still be on if Jones fights and loses against the winner for Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou 2, to which Adesanya responded with a resounding yes.
“Yep. This is deeper than fighting now. This is deeper than fighting. We all know what he is like. We all know how fake he is. It’s probably not going to take long before he f**** his life up again, if he hasn’t already and he kept it lowkey and swept it under the rug.”
The trash talk doesn’t end. And with Izzy also talking big now, this fantasy fight might just become reality.
