Israel Adesanya hit out at Kevin Holland after the latter’s win over Charlie Ontiveros
Kevin Holland put on a performance of the night at the latest UFC Fight Night event and defeated Charlie Ontiveros.
Ontiveros hurt his neck during a takedown and could not continue as Holland celebrated his fourth UFC win in a row.
The 27-year-old American celebrated wildly and called out UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya.
The Kiwi was present at this UFC event to see Anderson Silva in action and was asked about Holland’s called out.
Adesanya was speaking to the Schmo and wasn’t too pleased with Holland’s antics:
“Fans are crazy. Like I said, I am a fan of Anderson Silva but it doesn’t mean, when there was a contract in front of me and I signed to fight him.
“[Holland] he is just a fan but when the cameras were on, we were in the hotel, he wasn’t walking like that.
“But he was a little disrespectful but it is what it is. Sometimes fans just have displaced emotions, they don’t know where to put it.
“You can be a fan of me but you can still sign on the dotted line and get your a** kicked.”
There was another bombshell reveal from Dana White as he confirmed Adesanya’s next fight was against Jan Blachowicz for the Light Heavyweight title.
While Adesanya claimed that clash could be sometime next year, he didn’t believe that Holland would get a shot at his title.
“That is not for me to decide that is for him to decide but with that attitude I don’t see him going that far.
“He just has to humble himself and realise the position he is in. Yeah, he has got the skills, I am not ashamed to say it, I like his fighting style, I think he is dope.
“But when you approach someone like that, like at the hotel, it is just stupid. What is all the bravado about? Do something.
“When the cameras are on, when the cage is on, you are talking s***, calling me boy. Say that to my face next time.”
White also added that Adesanya wouldn’t have to vacate his Middleweight weight title to face Blachowicz.
That will be quite a tasty fight between two of the best in the promotion. Blachowicz won the vacant title in a one-sided battle against Dominick Reyes while Adesanya is 20-0 in his MMA career.
