Jon Jones had recently claimed he wanted to fight heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou
Israel Adesanya ripped into UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones over a possible clash against Francis Ngannou.
Ngannou is interested in claiming the Heavyweight title, however, things took a turn when Jones openly stated that the UFC aren’t keen on one fight.
Jones vs Ngannou won’t be happening any time soon, according to Dana White too, and that got both fighters upset.
Ngannou and Jones lashed out at the UFC over their decision. However, Adesanya ripped into rival Jones too.
Stylebender was on Submission Radio and was asked how Jones’ target shifted from Izzy to Ngannou.
Adesanya was having none of it and went on to say that Jones would never move up to heavyweight:
“He is not going up. He doesn’t want that smoke, trust me.”
Adesanya even shared a story of Paulo Costa, his rival, being scared of Ngannou during a previous event.
Ngannou might be one of the most dangerous men on the planet, but Jones, apparently, doesn’t want any part of it.
Jones will never move up
Adesanya’s biggest issue seemed to be Jones being stuck in one division, the light heavyweight one, and he threw shade on that:
“No one wants to **** with Francis. This ****** has been here for 10 years, he’s never jumped up in weight.
“He’s not doing it, trust me. A little birdie even tweeted me he’s not going to do it. I already knew.”
Adesanya added that the fight was a great one and Jones could beat Ngannou. However, the heavyweight has learned from the loss against Stipe Miocic, and Jones didn’t want to deal with the powerful striker.
Adesanya ended the segment by sharing his dream. He wanted Ngannou to also carry gold, alongside Kamaru Usman and create some sort of supergroup to help Africans and do a tour of sorts.
Usman and Adesanya are current champions in their divisions and it will be interesting to see if Ngannou makes that move.
