Amanda Ribas expects Zhang Weili vs Rose Namajunas to be a great clash
Brazilian UFC star Amanda Ribas picked up a great win over Paige VanZant at UFC 251. The 26-year-old won her fourth straight UFC clash after she got VanZant to submit via an armbar.
The Brazilian was ecstatic with the win and was open to fighting more in the UFC. Ribas is considered as one of the rising stars in the UFC and was speaking to Helen Yee regarding her future and that of the division.
The 26-year-old made her debut in the Flyweight division but has also spoken of going back to Strawweight too.
She was then asked about the Strawweight champion Zhang Weili. The Chinese star has spoken about facing Rose Namajunas next. Namajunas is a former champion and also defeated Jessica Andrade at UFC 251.
Ribas claimed it would be an amazing fight and was excited over it:
“I think it will be a great fight but Rose needs to be really fast because Weili is really strong too.
“If Weili get her, she will take her down, I think. So, it will be great and if this match happens, I will be watching like crazy.”
Weili shades it for Ribas
The Chinese star was impressive in her last bout as she defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Namajunas would also be a tough clash for her and Yee asked Ribas to share her prediction.
Ribas backed Weili to get the job done, but also claimed that Namajunas had a chance:
“Weili. I think, but I am sending good vibes for Rose cause I like her.”
Ribas is also dreaming of a title in the future and it will be interesting to see who is next in line for her. The Brazilian has been impressive in the UFC and wants to fight more.
As for Weili, she should defend her title soon and Namajunas would be a great opponent. The 28-year-old proved she can take a beating in her win over Andrade and she could hand one down to Weili too.
