Jake Paul is actively on the lookout for an opponent for his next fight
The YouTube sensation has made quite a name for himself on the boxing front. Having made his professional boxing debut only last year, he has gone 3-0 up in no time.
His most recent opponent was former UFC welterweight Ben Askren, whom Paul finished earlier than he had finished off his previous non-combat sports opponents, YouTuber AnesonGib and Ex-Basketballer Nate Robinson.
Despite beating ‘not-so-good’ athletes, Paul has done a commendable job, since taking up boxing professionally in itself is a big thing.
And now, a lot of talks of who ‘The Problem Child’s’ next opponent would be, have begun coming up, with boxer Tommy Fury and MMA star Dillon Danis being the frontrunners.
Famed cutman Jacob Duran addressed this in a recent interview with Helen Yee. ‘Stitch’ claimed that the matchmakers would only pick opponents who could easily be beaten by the YouTuber.
Duran wanted to see him take on the Diaz brothers, as he claimed that he would have made the fight, had he been a promoter.
Duran was quoted as saying:
“They are gonna pick guys that Jake Paul is gonna beat. Plain and simple. I don’t think you’re gonna have a boxer or an MMA guy at top top level, that’s going to go and challenge him. I’d like to see him fight like a Nick or Nate Diaz. You know that would be my choice, if I was a promoter or matchmaker. Pick one of the Diaz brothers.”
The Diaz brothers are known for their toughness. They have hardly been knocked out in their extremely long MMA careers.
In the same interview with Helen Yee, Duran also explained why he would like Jake Paul to fight one of the Diaz brothers.
‘Stitch’ explained that the Diaz brothers were quite at boxing, before going on to add a few more details:
“They have some boxing skills because they used to spar with Andre Ward…But their names…I think that would be a fun one.”
Nick Diaz has been hinting at a return to the octagon sometime this year, while his brother Nate recently had his fight against Leon Edwards at UFC 262, postponed by a month
