Anderson Silva made a successful return to boxing last weekend

On the 19th of June, Anderson Silva stepped inside the boxing ring after almost 16 years. The Brazilian UFC veteran had fought just twice inside a boxing ring before.

His first boxing fight was in 1998, which he lost. He made a strong comeback seven years later, winning the second one.

Now, quite fresh of his release from the UFC, the 46-year old Brazilian took on an opponent who was umpteen folds more experienced than him.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was 10 years younger, and had at least 50 fights more than Silva in his boxing career.

However, Silva was unfazed by all these. He beat Chavez Jr. in his own backyard via. a narrow split decision, doing the MMA community proud.

In the latest Schmozone podcast, popular cutman Jacob ‘Stitch’ Duran revealed that he wasn’t surprised with Silva’s victory because he knew the phenomenal talent the Brazilian possessed.

‘Stitch’ also pointed out to Chavez Jr’s lack of discipline. The Mexican had come into the fight 2 pounds over and had already forfeited $100,000 to Silva before the fight began.

He was quoted as saying:

“I wasn’t surprised because Chavez Jr. just doesn’t have any discipline. Coming in, I think 2 pounds over – whatever the weight is, but it cost him like a $100,000. So, I wasn’t surprised.”

Anderson Silva hints at a possible boxing match against Logan Paul

The Paul brothers- Logan and Jake have been hogging the limelight in the boxing world. While Jake is currently 3-0 in his professional boxing career, elder brother Logan is coming off an eight-rounder against the legendary Floyd Mayweather.

Speaking about the Paul brothers, Silva claimed that he respected both and had a great relationship with them. He also didn’t write off a fight against Logan.

In an interview with MMA Junkie following his victory over Chavez Jr., Silva said:

“I respect both. I have a great relationship with both the brothers and I think this is possible too, you know. That’s entertaining. His fight [against Mayweather] was entertaining and Logan and his brother are amazing guys. People say they talk a lot about the guys but they are good persons and I respect both. I think everything is possible and I think the next fight is maybe, with Logan Paul.”
