Tony Ferguson was brutally knocked out by Michael Chandler at UFC 274
The world is still reeling from the events of UFC 274, especially the fight between Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler.
Many expected a barnstormer from the pair, given that they are two of the most exciting fighters in the promotion. However, not many would have expected the finish to be so gruesome.
Ferguson, who had only ever been TKO’d once in his career, was completely destroyed thanks to a front kick from Chandler.
The damage done to Ferguson was made greater thanks to the UFC star’s image being circulated all over the internet.
Many poked fun at Ferguson’s face, but Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions came out in support of the defeated star.
Paul has done a lot of promotions for boxing matches but it was interesting to see his team care about the image of other fighters.
They even tweeted an image of Frankie Edgar, who also got a front kick from Marlon Vera at UFC 268.
Tony Ferguson ready to come back after defeat
While the loss was the first KO Ferguson had been dealt in his career, El Cucuy is no stranger to adversity.
He has come back from losses in the past, and even though he is on a four-fight losing streak, the former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion posted a positive message.
Ferguson congratulated Chandler for the win and claimed he was still “hungry”. It is to be seen who he fights next but there is no doubt that El Cucuy will be back and be a big draw for the UFC.
Ferguson is now 25-7 in his MMA career. However, he is still one of the most popular fighters on the roster.
