Jake Paul takes on former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley next
Jake Paul is a month away from his fourth professional boxing match. The YouTube star will be taking on former UFC fighter Tyron Woodley.
The fight marks Woodley’s pro-boxing debut. The former welterweight champion is known for his immaculate and powerful striking and is expected to be a real test for Paul.
The pre-fight press conferences have begun already, and a couple of them are over. After his recent press conference, Paul addressed the media wherein he spoke about his desire to expose UFC athletes’ striking capabilities.
Paul, then went on to explain how the UFC and boxing are two “very different things”.
He was quoted as saying:
“I think I’m exposing the UFC a bit with their striking capabilities. He’s fought the ‘best in the world’ in the UFC, but that’s not boxing. People think they’re very similar sports, which they kind of are. But it’s really relating swimming to basketball. It’s two very different things.” [via BJPenn.com]
Jake Paul claims the world would be in awe of him once he beats Tyron Woodley
Paul also acknowledged Woodley’s achievements in the UFC, while also mentioning that Woodley has fought some of the best welterweights in the business, like Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns.
However, he stated that no one would be able to match “Jake Paul”:
“Yes, he’s fought Kamaru Usman. Yes, he’s fought Gilbert Burns. But that’s not Jake Paul,” Paul said. “I will finish him, unlike those guys, and then people are going to come back and watch this interview and be like, ‘Holy sh*t, this kid is crazy. He predicted the future, and what the f*ck is going on? What the f*ck is in the milk in Ohio?” [via BJPENN.com]
Paul will be looking forward to beating Woodley, and moving forward in search of even bigger challenges, come the 29th of August.
