Jon Jones reacts to Jan Blachowicz loss at UFC 267
Former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones later has reacted to Jan Blachowicz defeat to Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 267. Jones was certainly not impressed by the Polish fighter’s performance and took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the same where he said:
“New rule, don’t call me out until you defend your belt at least twice. I’m getting sick of this shit. Everybody talking about what they’re going to do, can’t even beat the other contenders”
Jones lashed out at Blachowicz as he lost his title in only his second title defense. This reaction from the former light heavyweight champion stems from the fact that Blachowicz had called Jones out in the past after winning the title that Jones had defended for years before leaving the division.
Jones was certainly not a big fan of it and made it known that fighters should at least defend their belt twice before thinking of calling out arguably the greatest UFC of all time.
The UFC 267 was headlined by the light heavyweight championship bout between Blachowicz and Teixeira. The Brazilian who was the underdog wrote a fairytale of his own. He defeated the light heavyweight champion in the second round of the fight.
The 42 year old had his second opportunity at the light heavyweight gold after previously being beat by Jones himself back in 2014. Teixeira dominated Blachowicz in the first round and then went on to submit him with a rear naked choke in the second round.
It is worth noting that this was Blachowicz’s second only title defense, his first came against Israel Adesanya who was moving up in weight.
The Polish fighter got the job done then but fell short against an experienced Teixeira. To take a look at the results from the event, check out: UFC 267 winners and bonuses: Who all got the $50,000 bonus from the PPV?
