UFC commentator Joe Rogan cracked a joke about Dana White on his show
Joe Rogan was hosting his Joe Rogan Experience show when news broke out that Dana White had cancelled UFC 249.
The UFC president confirmed that fight was off, just a week or so before the event, and that decision was taken by Disney and ESPN.
Rogan also was shown updates from Brett Okamoto and Ariel Helwani speaking about the fight being cancelled.
The UFC commentator was a little shocked as to how White changed his decision. Disney and ESPN might be big but the UFC president seems to be an extremely powerful man.
He simply doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer, and Rogan also joked that there is only one person more powerful that White in the world:
“The president of the UFC is only second to the president of the United States. He is under a tremendous amount of pressure.”
Rogan burst into laughter as he made that statement while Brendan Schaub, a former UFC star, also claimed that White had hundreds of millions of dollars in the account.
White adamant for other fights to go on
While Rogan and Schaub agreed that White was under a lot of pressure to get work done, they couldn’t come to an agreement on how the coronavirus outbreak could be kept in check.
White, for his part, spoke with ESPN and added that he was still ready to hold UFC 249. The UFC president also said that his private fight island was still being prepared.
White wants to hold international fight events on this island and was a month away from getting it setup.
It will be interesting to see if he does get that complete. Disney and ESPN pulled the plug on UFC 249 with just a week or so to go, and an island hosting fights seems a bit of a health risk at the moment.
