Kevin Holland vs Kyle Daukaus at UFC Vegas 38 ended in a no-contest

Kevin Holland faced Kyle Daukaus in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Walker.

Holland who was coming off a two-fight skid, was itching to get back to winning ways to regain his 2020 form.

The relatively new Daukaus, meanwhile was coming off a loss as well. He had lost to Phil Hawes via. unanimous decision.

The fight got underway, and just a few minutes into round 1, a coming together between the two, saw a clash of heads that knocked Holland out cold.

‘The Trailblazer’ gained consciousness once he thudded onto the canvas. However, he was still shaken.

Seeing this as an opening, Daukaus capitalized on the same, and executed a rear-naked choke and got the W.

What followed was a discussion between referee Dan Miragliotta, Herb Dean and the match officials.

Jon Anik shares his verdict on Holland-Daukaus no contest

Kyle Daukaus was unfortunate to have had the victory taken off him. However, he did not moan or complain. He took it like a champion. There was a lot of respect between Holland and Daukaus as well.

UFC commentator and analyst Jon Anik shared his thoughts on the no-contest. Anik felt that Daukaus deserved to get the W although he did not state it explicitly.

Anik’s tweet read:

“Appreciate your comments on the controversial co-main event b/w Kyle Daukaus and Kevin Holland. Read them all. If I’m Daukaus, I’m pissed. And much is vague when it comes to the usage of replay/review. Course, I’m just one man with an opinion. More tomorrow on @AnikFlorianPod.”
