UFC commentator Jon Anik was in awe after meeting lightweight GOAT Khabib Nurmagomedov
Khabib Nurmagomedov hung up his gloves at UFC 254, October 24 in 2020, after beating Justin Gaethje. No one ever saw that coming.
At the post-fight interview, an inconsolable ‘Eagle’ revealed that he wouldn’t be competing ever again without his late father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov by his corner, while also divulging that he had promised his mother that the Gaethje fight would be his last.
That interview is one of the most iconic interviews in the history of combat sports and has been viewed over 22 million times on UFC’s YouTube channel.
UFC commentator Jon Anik had the privilege of interviewing Khabib that night. And more recently, Anik once again caught up with Khabib, ahead of Islam Makhachev’s fight against Thiago Moises.
A beyond-amazed Anik shared an image from his brief meeting with the Russian, explaining how lucky he was to talk to ‘The Beacon of Humility.’
“Not every day you get five minutes to chat with a man as special as this! Total legend. Total inspiration. Beacon of humility. For those of us who have had the chance to rub shoulders with @khabib_nurmagomedov over the years, we know how fortunate we are.”
Coach Khabib Nurmagomedov explains Islam Makhachev’s weight cut
Islam Makhachev is set to headline UFC Fight Night, in a matter of few hours, against Thiago Moises. The Russian is ready to go.
His coach Khabib Nurmagomedov discussed the process of Makhachev’s weight cut ahead of the fight against Moises.
Khabib said in his Instagram video:
“Now, Islam finish bike for 15 minutes, 15-minute run, a 5-minute walk and three rounds work with bags…And now we put a towel on him and he’s gonna lay down like 20 minutes with towel, making his body sweat…For one training like this, you’re gonna cut like 5 pounds…And I think tomorrow will be the same.”
