Nate Diaz seems set to return to the UFC in 2021 and Dan Hooker would be a great opponent for him
Nate Diaz might not have fought in the UFC since his loss to Jorge Masvidal, but he still remains one of the biggest names in the business.
The 35-year-old has wins over Conor McGregor, Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis and is considered as one of the men to have made the UFC so big.
He is expected to make a return in 2021 after his loss to Masvidal at UFC 244. However, the question remains who should face him next.
Jon Anik, one of the UFC’s top commentators was asked to solve the puzzle. He was speaking to the Schmo and brought up just how great Diaz is for the business:
“As long as Nate is in there, I don’t care who he faces. I think there are a lot of appetizing match-ups for him.”
Anik brought up that Diaz wants to give deserving guys a shot, like Masvidal, and that ensures a massive payday when facing one of the Diaz brothers.
Hooker vs Diaz?
Dan Hooker is in action at UFC 257 as he takes on Michael Chandler. Hooker is coming off a loss to Dustin Poirier but Anik was open to seeing the Kiwi take on Diaz.
“I think Dan Hooker fits that mould and if you have seen what he has been saying all week, he certainly has an appetite for that fight.
“I am intrigued with Diaz vs Hooker.”
However, the commentator knew that Hooker had a tough fight against Chandler, who is a former Bellator Champion.
Further, Hooker too has been open about his desire to fight Diaz. He recently told the Schmo he was open to facing Diaz anytime and it will be interesting to see if this is Diaz’s return clash or not.
UFC 257 also has the big Conor McGregor vs Poirier fight, and that has all the makings of a classic.
