Home » UFC » Jon Jones admits being a heavyweight is a lot more difficult than he thought

It has been 9 months since Jon Jones announced his move to the heavyweight division

Jon Jones renounced his light-heavyweight title in August 2020, in a bid to chase legacy and greatness. The LHW GOAT has been packing on the muscle and putting in the hard yards ever since.

Now, making his seems to be a problem for ‘Bones’. He has been feuding with UFC President Dana White regarding his fight purse.

He was tipped to face Francis Ngannou; however the fight offer fell out due to his massive wage demands.

With uncertainty surrounding his heavyweight future, he took to Twitter as usual to answer fan’s questions.

During one such exchange with a fan, Jones explained that moving to the heavyweight division was more difficult than he ever thought it would be. He attributed it to his genetics since he always been the “skinny one” in his family.

“Man I’m telling you, I’ve always been the skinny one in my family. Becoming a proper heavy weight is a lot more difficult than I had ever anticipated. I want to do it right the first time.”

One look at Jones’s legs will reveal how much of an effort it would be for him to gain weight in the right way. They still look super thin.

Brandon Gibson believes Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou will happen in the future

The whole MMA community has been amped up about a super fight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. With Jones’ payment dispute the only problem, there is no other reason why the fight wouldn’t happen.

Coach Brandon Gibson of the Jackson Wink MMA Academy feels that Jones vs Ngannou will surely happen sometime in the future.

It is worth noting that Jones trains at the Jackson Wink MMA Academy.

Gibson told TheMACLife:

“It will come together. Jon is 33, we have a lot of time. And the more he gets to work on applying this strength…It’s just that much more dangerous for the entire heavyweight division.”

If it ever happens, it will probably even grab more eyeballs than Rumble in the Jungle 1974.
