Jon Jones has another threat lined up in the form of Ciryl Gane in the heavyweight division

The spotlight is on Frenchman, Ciryl Gane now. The 31-year old beat Derrick Lewis in the main event of UFC 265 to clinch the interim heavyweight title.

‘Bon Gamin’s technicality and fight IQ were on another level, as he cruised to a championship in only his 10th fight.

He will now be taking on Francis Ngannou for the heavyweight championship. The date and venue for the same are yet to be announced.

Elsewhere, there is Jon Jones. The light-heavyweight GOAT hasn’t made his heavyweight debut, since moving to the division a year ago.

With his debut probably set for 2022, his coach Mike Winkeljohn of Jackson Wink MMA Academy weighed in on a possible fight between his client and either Gane or Ngannou.

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Winkeljohn claimed that both Gane and Ngannou are “beatable in their own way” while acknowledging the fact that Gane had more tools.

He said

“The crazy power is always scary. It freezes up a lot of people, and that’s what Francis has. He’s a scary, explosive guy. Gane can hit hard too, but again, he has more tools I believe as far as fine-tuned tools. So, they’re different nuts for Jon to crack, depending which one of those guys Jon has to fight. It’s different. They both are scary in their own way and both very beatable in their own way.” [via MMA Mania]
