Cheyanne Buys picked up a huge win at UFC Vegas 33 and was praised by former champion Jon Jones
UFC Vegas 33 might not have had the most star-studded card but this was quite a show, nonetheless.
Sean Strickland vs Uriah Hall was the main event and it was Strickland who picked up the win after dominating most of the fight.
However, another talking point was the co-main event which saw Cheyanne Buys take on Gloria de Paula.
Buys made a name for herself a while back after her husband, JP, also fought on the same card. Cheyanne certainly put on a great performance and even produced one of the big KOs of the night thanks to a kick and then some ground and pound.
This performance also saw her win the Performance of the Night bonus and with that came an extra cheque of $50,000.
Buys was shocked after learning of the bonus and broke down in tears once she learned of the $50,000 UFC bonus.
She wasn’t the only one who got the bonus and there was more to come for the rising star.
Jon Jones impressed by the Warrior Princess
Buys spoke with Paul Felder after the clash and brought up her financial issues. She claimed she was broke coming into the fight and the win would help her a lot.
She also brought up not wanting to give up in the Octagon and spoke about dying in the fight as well, something that former UFC champion Jon Jones caught.
Jones has been out of action since giving up the Light Heavyweight title and moving up a division. However, he still had time to praise the Warrior Princess.
Buys certainly caught the eye of many and it will be interesting to see who her next fight is. This was her first UFC win after a disappointing debut, and hopefully, she gets a few more Ws under her belt after this.
