“Not worth my time” – Jon Jones reacts after Israel Adesanya loses to Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259

Israel Adesanya got the first defeat of his MMA career when he fought Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259 and Jon Jones was ready to fire shots

The UFC 259 main event did not disappoint as Israel Adesanya and Jan Blachowicz served up a treat.

There was a lot riding on this fight as Adesanya put his undefeated streak on the line as he hoped to win Blachowicz’s Light Heavyweight title.

Adesanya also moved up a division, as he is the Middleweight Champion, but didn’t weight anywhere close to Blachowicz.

The fight started off slowly before Blachowicz used a lot of his wrestling to ground Adesanya. The Polish star picked up the win after doing well in the fourth and fifth rounds.

Adesanya was magnanimous in defeat but promised to be back and fighting in the Middleweight division. The Kiwi-Nigerian star is still one of the best ever to have fought in the Octagon but one man decided to take a shot at him.

Jon Jones and Adesanya have been taking shots at each other and there was a chance that Adesanya would move up another division to face Bones.

However, this loss seems to have put that fight on ice and Jones also suggested that this might not be worth his time:

Israel Adesanya just couldn’t get going

Adesanya has always neutralised his opponents but as the fight went on it was clear that there would be only one winner in Blachowicz.

The Pole was growing in confidence after every round and Adesanya will have to go to the drawing board if he is ever to move up again.

Nevertheless, credit must be handed to Adesanya for trying to do something different and becoming a two-division champion at the same time is not easy.

Bones did have some good words for Izzy after the post-fight press statements too and lauded him for trying to do something great:

Jones now has the Heavyweight title on his mind and he would be keen on seeing how Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou goes.

The pair are to meet at UFC 260 and the winner should take on Jones as he too tries to become a two-division champion.
