Jon Jones reacted to the viral and shocking moment when Will Smith punched Chris Rock at the oscars over a tasteless joke
Will Smith won his first Academy Award at the 2022 Oscars after decades of an illustrious career, but the moment was overshadowed by his own act prior to that. The world was dumbfounded when Will Smith rushed to the stage to punch Chris Rock who poked fun at his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Rock appeared on stage to present the Oscar for documentary feature and made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith being in “G.I. Jane” because of her shaved head. Pinkett Smith announced last year she shaved her head after struggling with alopecia.
Smith then took the stage to punch Rock. Although it appeared to be a joke at first, Smith returned to his seat and yelled at Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fuc..ng mouth!”
Jon Jones was stupefied by the incident, and reacted to it on Twitter. He commended Will Smith who stood up for his wife and saluted the professionalism shown by Chris Rock.
He said, ‘ Anyone watching the #Oscars? Will Smith is a gangster for that one, Chris rock was the ultimate professional for the way he continued”
“He’s anxious to fight” – Henry Cejudo is confident of a Jon Jones return this year
Jon Jones hasn’t fought since his UFC 247 victory against Dominick Reyes back in February 2020. Since then he has hinted at a move to heavyweight, had his share of legal trouble outside the octagon and complained about the UFC’s pay structure.
Former UFC double champion Hendry Cejudo has been helping Jones prepare for his heavyweight debut and according to the ‘Triple C’, Jones is now readier than ever.
He spoke about Jones on ‘The Schmzozone Podcast’ and said, “You guys will see Jon Jones this year. He’s anxious to fight, he’s hungry man. He needed this time off, he needed this time out to get his mind right, to let his body recover, to enjoy [with] his family. He needed all this, you know what I’m saying?”
