Jones who had wiped out most of the light heavyweight decision considers a matchup against former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic as an ultimate crowd-pleaser and an ideal matchup. He posted a tweet stating:

The greatest heavyweight of all time versus the greatest light heavyweight, who wants to see it? I’m game.”

A few days back, his arch-nemesis and former heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier had suggested the exact same matchup for the interim heavyweight championship. The proposed fight perfectly makes sense for all parties and the MMA community is pushing hard to make it work.

As for Stipe who is coming off a brutal KO loss to the current champion Francis Ngannou will benefit from the challenge and can spoil Jon Jones heavyweight coming party. From the looks of it, this fight will come together eventually and as of now, it’s just about getting the terms and dates right.

Former heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier has suggested a potential heavyweight clash for the interim title that would make sense

During a recent episode of the DC & RC show, the former heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier proposed a heavyweight clash between Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones for the interim title.

“I think we’ll see another interim title and that for me what makes sense for that [heavyweight] interim title in Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones.” [via. ESPN MMA]

Daniel Cormier has faced both the fighters on several occasions and it’s pretty clear he understands that the fight makes sense given the current situation of the heavyweight division.
