Jon Jones joined the heavyweight division of the UFC in August, last year
Jon Jones relinquished his light-heavyweight title on the 15th of August in 2020, in a bid to pursue greater challenges. He announced that he would be moving to the heavyweight division.
Since then, he has been putting in the hard yards and has added at least 40lbs of weight and muscle. He looks scarier than ever.
The light-heavyweight GOAT from time to time has been sharing videos of himself training on social media.
In a recent video Jones shared on Instagram, he can be seen running on a treadmill which is set at an insane speed of 20mph (32kph). He mentioned his weight as 255lbs.
A charged-up Jones captioned the post:
“I’ll be 34 next month! Starting to feel like a fine wine, only getting better with age.”
What’s next for Jon Jones?
It will soon be a year since Jon Jones announced his heavyweight move. But he still hasn’t fought even once since making a move to the division with the strongest men on the planet.
A payment dispute with UFC President Dana White has been playing major spoilsport. Jones was expected to face heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, but the fight opportunity went to Derrick Lewis, due to Jones’ massive wage demands.
With almost everyone in the MMA community unanimously agreeing that Jones must be paid at least $10 million, only a meeting between Jones himself and the boss Dana White would settle the issue.
However, the fight between Jones and Ngannou is definitely bound to happen some day.
