“Usman copying my shots now” – Conor McGregor wants to fight Kamaru Usman after UFC 261 result

Conor McGregor claimed that Kamaru Usman was copying his shots and was ready to move up the Welterweight division

UFC 261 saw Kamaru Usman put on another brilliant show as he destroyed Jorge Masvidal in the second round.

Usman is now on a 14-fight winning streak in the UFC and is only two behind the great Anderson Silva in that race.

He is also undefeated in his UFC career and certainly put his name in the race for the GOAT Welterweight. Masvidal, for all of his trash talking and mind games, was unable to better his result from UFC 251.

Gamebred admitted that Usman was the better man and even the champion had some quality words for his rival.

Usman has brought up a lot of punching in his recent fights. He defeated Gilbert Burns with a vicious KO and did the same to Masvidal.

While Colby Covington will be Usman’s next fight, someone he has already defeated, Conor McGregor also put his name into the hat.

The pair have had some squabbles recently, especially with Usman using the ‘green panty night’ term. McGregor took offence to that and now is suggesting that Usman is copying his fighting style.

He also claimed that the Welterweight division is his and there will be a clash between the pair:

“Usman even copying my shots now. Am I to fight this guy at some stage?

“I think so. Can’t be copying my words and my shots and not get a smack for it. I like 170. It’s mine soon.”

The Irishman even claimed he wanted a year to get into shape and took a shot at the green panty comments too:

Conor McGregor to become a three-division champion?

McGregor’s next fight is against Dustin Poirier as he tries to get vengeance from earlier in the year.

Poirier was able to get the better of the Irishman and it will be interesting to see what McGregor does next.

Moving up to the Welterweight division would be something huge from McGregor, and he could try to become a three-division champion.

Usman has also promised to destroy McGregor if the fight was ever made. This would be a huge clash in terms of PPV buys too, and Dana White would certainly want to set it up.

Usman and McGregor have tough fights next, but should they come out unscathed, we could see something special in the Welterweight division.
