Jorge Masvidal was called out by Stephen Thompson and posted a cryptic message on Twitter
Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson put the cat amongst the pigeons with a win over Geoff Neal at UFC Vegas 17.
Wonderboy was dominant against his rival and sounded out a challenge for the Welterweight title. The 37-year-old also wanted another crack at Jorge Masvidal, despite defeating Gamebred in an earlier meeting.
That fight would be a great one given that Gamebred is also coming off a loss against the Welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman.
However, this Gamebred is different from the one that Wonderboy faced a few years back. He is more meaner and dangerous than ever before and the winner of Gamebred vs Wonderboy could get a title shot in the future.
Masvidal, who hasn’t spoken much about his next fight since the Usman loss, posted a cryptic message of what 2021 holds for him.
The “unfinished business” hashtag along with 2021 does confirm that Masvidal will be back in action next year, but the question is who does he fight?
Wonderboy is a fight that he would want to take up and avenge his loss. However, the fight that many had predicted is seeing him go up against Colby Covington.
Covington beat Tyron Woodley in his last outing and a win over Masvidal could see him get a shot at the title too.
There also were negotiations for a second BMF clash against Nate Diaz. Masvidal defeated Diaz to win the BMF belt and a rematch of that would be a huge one for the UFC.
Masvidal is one of the biggest names in the promotion and he is yet to win the UFC title. He couldn’t get the job done against Usman but he took up that fight on short-notice.
A proper camp could be something else for Gamebred, but his cryptic message saw fans predict a range of opponents for him.
