The assault of Colby Covington by Jorge Masvidal at Papi steak house in Miami will most likely get the latter in trouble
The bad blood between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington hasn’t been settled and is far from over. The ‘Gamebred’ had maintained during the post-fight press conference that it is still ‘on sight, with Colby, after suffering a unanimous decision loss to him at UFC 272.
Police documents have now emerged stating that Masvidal attacked Covington outside of Papi Steak restaurant on Monday night. An initial report of the scuffle was posted by Fox Sports Radio’s Andy Slater. Masvidal allegedly “ran up to him from his left, and without notice, punched him with a closed fist two times in the face,” the police report reads. One punch reportedly landed on Covington’s mouth and the other connected with his left eye.
As per the police report, Covington insinuated that Masvidal said, “You shouldn’t have been talking about my kids,”
It is reported that Masvidal was wearing a surgical mask, and hooded up in disguise to attack Colby. Masvidal has been charged with felony battery for his actions according to Miami beach police.
Bob Menery is miffed with Jorge Masvidal’s antics following an altercation with Colby Covington in Miami
It would be foolish to think that the grudge-bearing and splenetic rivalry between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington would just end with UFC 272. ‘Gamebred’ had confirmed at the post-fight press conference that this chapter in his life is far from over and that it ‘on site’ if they ever stumbled upon each other.
Jorge saw his window of opportunity when Bob Menery and Nelk Boys posted Instagram stories enjoying a dinner with Colby Covington. They captioned the posts ‘ King of Miami’ , and this did not sit well with the self-proclaimed king of Miami- Jorge Masvidal.
He jumped Covington at the restaurant, as punches were thrown by both parties. A video has also emerged from TMZ which shows Covington outside the premises surrounded by cops. A clearly agitated Covington can be heard saying, “He’s over here swinging, trying to come at me, and I ran …How would he know I’m here?”
Reacting to this coarse behaviour by Jorge, Bob Menery posted a tweet saying,
”All i can say is I’m extremely disappointed in @GamebredFighter as a professional fighter tonight. You let down alot of people tonight bro. Disappointed ”
