Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred Fighting Championship is set for the 18th of June in Biloxi, Mississippi
Masvidal might have just been knocked out for the first time in his career, against Kamaru Usman at UFC 261. But off-court he is shining like a diamond right now.
His new MMA promotion will have its inaugural event on the 18th of June. It is a bare-knuckle MMA promotion called Gamebred Fighting Championship. It is inspired by Kimbo Slice’s backyard fights, of which Masvidal was once a part.
The event is set to take place at Biloxi in Mississippi. The main event sees Jason Knight take on Charles Bennett.
Jason Knight is a former UFC fighter, who fought in the promotion until November 2018. He has an MMA record of 21 wins and 6 losses.
Following his departure from the UFC, he also tried his hand at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships. He faced Artem Lobov twice, losing the first match and winning the next.
His opponent Charles Bennett, on the other hand, is a 41-year old MMA veteran. Bennett hasn’t won a single MMA fight since 2017 (losing all 11). He then switched to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships, where he lost all three of his fights.
Jorge Masvidal reacts to the announcement on Instagram
After announcing that he would be kicking off an MMA promotion very soon, Masvidal was very elated as things turned out to be fruitful in double-quick time.
He took to Instagram to share the news of the same. He wrote:
“Breaking News 🚨 Gamebred Fighting Championship 1 will be on Friday, June 18th in Biloxi, Mississippi. Our first ever Professional Bare Knuckle MMA event will be headlined by Jason “The Kid” Knight vs “Felony” Charles Bennett. Watch it live and exclusively on the BKTV App! #realhastalamuerte“
The fights can be viewed live on BKTV App. Masvidal will be hoping that his promotion gains as much traction as his hero Kimbo Slice’s backyard fights gained.
