UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal has joined hands with Donald Trump in being part of his platform Truth Social, which was launched in February 2022
Former USA president Donald Trump had floated the idea of starting his own platform in 2021, after he was banned from Facebook and Twitter. A year later he would bring this idea to manifestation by launching Truth Social.
Trump has been a longtime supporter of the UFC, since its days of inception and continues to be a source of strength for the organization. Welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal has been forthright and plain-spoken about his support for the Republican figurehead.
According to the website of Truth Social, it is a “social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.”
Masvidal posted a picture of him becoming a member of the platform on Twitter with the caption, ‘ I got a special invite on #TruthSocial‘
Masvidal also has garnered some followers already on the site, which was launched by Trump Media & Technology Group. During the UFC 272 press conference, ‘Gamebred’ had also accused his rival of using the ‘Trump’ name for his image, and that he is a true aficionado of the Republican.

Based on Mastodon, free and open-source software, the platform encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology. Truth Social was launched on February 2022, on Apple iOS, reaching No. 1 on Apple’s App Store’s top charts.
The platform received half a million downloads within 48 hours, and it has been counting ever since. It has over 27k followers on Instagram. As for Trump, he has approximately 200k followers on the site.
Truth Social had a rocky rollout but has since fixed the bugs and streamlined the site, which is expected to gain momentum soon.
