Jorge Masvidal vs Kamaru Usman 2 seems a certainty to take place after UFC 258
Kamaru Usman put on an incredible display at UFC 258 and it seems his next target is a rematch against Jorge Masvidal.
The pair met at UFC 251 but Masvidal had accepted the fight on six days notice. That has been one talking point as Gamebred, as Masvidal is called, lost the fight.
Usman also didn’t finish him but the Nigerian Nightmare dominated his rival and picked up the unanimous decision win.
Masvidal believes he could destroy Usman and take off his head with a full training camp. The Nightmare was quick to call Masvidal out after dismantling Gilbert Burns at UFC 258.
Usman also brought up that he had to change his game plan before UFC 251 and now claimed he would put his rival in a coffin.
There is a lot of bad blood between Usman and Masvidal but Gamebred laughed off this threat.
“Game plan to putting me in a “coffin” hug and toe stomp
“Who is this guy fooling?”
Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal 2 won’t feature foot stomps?
Another major talking point from the UFC 251 main event was the use of foot stomps by Usman.
The Nigerian Nightmare scored a lot of points with that tactic and some began asking if this was legal in the UFC.
There was nothing against the rules regarding the usage of foot stomps and it worked a treat for Usman.
However, Usman vs Masvidal 2 would be a different battle. A full training camp for Masvidal does make him a big threat but Usman would also be training for that and not have to worry about an opponent switch.
Masvidal is one of the biggest names in the UFC, even though he has never won the Welterweight title.
Usman, for his part, put himself in the GOAT debate by destroying Burns. He broke a Georges St-Pierre record and also notched up his 17th consecutive MMA win.
Usman hasn’t lost a fight since 2013 and in his UFC career. He is one of the greatest Welterweights of all time and a win over Masvidal, again, would certainly add more weight to his growing legacy.
