In a fiery welterweight contest, Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards will be squaring off at UFC 269 later this year in December.

The news was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN after UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell confirmed the same to ESPN. The contracts for the fight are yet to be signed.

Okamoto’s Tweet read:

“UFC is in the process of finalizing a welterweight bout between Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards at UFC 270 on Dec. 11, UFC Chief Business Hunter Campbell tells ESPN. Sneaking this one in before the end of the year. Gotta love it.”

Masvidal is winless since the beginning of 2020. Having challenged Kamaru Usman unsuccessfully twice for the title, Masvidal will be looking forward to getting back to winning ways.

Edwards, on the other hand, is on a nine-fight winning streak. His last defeat was against Usman as well. However, it was 6 long years ago in December 2015. ‘Rocky’ is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Nate Diaz at UFC 263.
