Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal is upbeat ahead of his UFC 261 title fight against Kamaru Usman.
Masvidal will be looking forward to getting that eluding title belt wrapped around his waist. An emotional Gamebred also sounded determined to make his parents proud, come this Saturday.
Having made his Octagon debut in April 2013, Masvidal has had his ups and downs, but he has always managed to stay relevant in the UFC, since he never gets finished in a fight. Of the 49 fights he has fought, he just has one TKO loss, which in itself was controversial.
On Saturday, he will be going into only his second title fight in the UFC – the first being, the one at UFC 251. Despite, being the massive underdog, Masvidal believes he can pull off a victory.
Taking to Instagram, Gamebred shared a photo from the recent weigh-ins, while writing that he will have his hands raised on the morrow.
The caption read:
“Felt the energy and got a hand up for each belt I’m bringing home tomorrow night #andnew.”
As for Masvidal’s opponent Kamaru Usman, he is coming off a devastating TKO victory over his former teammate and sparring partner Gilbert Burns, at UFC 258.
After making a brilliant start to the fight at UFC 251, Masvidal was taken to grapple-city by Usman as the fight progressed.
The Nigerian Nightmare also brought out his customary foot stomps in the later rounds and executed them with precision umpteen number of times. Until this day, fight fans jokingly claim that Usman won the fight via foot stomps alone.
Masvidal recently opened up on how much of a damage Usman’s foot stomps had on him in an interview with ESPN. The 36-year old revealed that, all Usman did was bruise a toenail next to his pinky nail.
