Jorge Masvidal made bond and is not in police custody
Jorge Masvidal has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated battery with bodily harm and criminal mischief, according to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi.
Masvidal is accused of attacking bitter rival Colby Covington outside the Papi Steak restaurant in Miami on Monday night.
Reports suggest that Covington suffered a broken tooth and one punch from Masvidal also landed on Chaos’ left eye.
Gamebred was held on a $15,000 bond and his attorney had called the police before the authorities told the UFC star to surrender.
Raimondi added that Masvidal had “entered a written plea of not guilty” in the case.
Masvidal was also quick to tweet after his clash with Covington outside the Octagon.
However, Gamebred was unable to get the better of his rival inside the Octagon at UFC 272. Covington dominated Masvidal over the course of five rounds but Gamebred claimed he was not done with this rivalry.
Covington had made a lot of disparaging remarks towards Masvidal’s children, and that seems to have ignited the fire within Gamebred.
Khabib Nurmagomedov also brought up this angle of the rivalry between the two Welterweights. The Eagle defended Masvidal and also asked other Welterweights to stop fighting with Covington in the Octagon to teach Chaos a lesson.
Masvidal has now lost his last three bouts. However, two of those were against the Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
It will be interesting to see who Masvidal could fight next. Covington could still be an option, especially after Masvidal’s attack, and the UFC could be keen on booking it as the rivalry is still heated.
