Jorge Masvidal shared his prediction for his UFC 261 rematch with champion Kamaru Usman
The main event for UFC 261 has been announced. Kamaru Usman will defend his welterweight belt against Jorge Masvidal in a rematch of their UFC 251 bout.
Back then, Masvidal came into the octagon on a 6-day notice as Gilbert Burns was pulled from the headline fight because of testing positive for Covid-19.
The bout, held on July 12, 2021, in Abu Dhabi, saw Usman completely dominate ‘Gamebred’ with his grappling.
Masvidal’s offence was negated and the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ won on decision after the fight went the distance. But the American now has a chance to set things right.
And the ever-so-cocky Masvidal shared his prediction for the event. He wrote “You’re welcome #andnew” as he backed himself to take the belt from Usman.
Usman is on the back of defending his belt against Burns at UFC 258 in February 2021 and would make it 4 title defences in a row if he manages to beat the 36-year-old.
Dana White, the UFC president, always maintained that crowds would only be back inside the arena only when it would be possible to have a full-capacity arena.
Due to the pandemic, fans have been kept out of sporting arenas around the world, and UFC has been no different.
But while some sports, such as football, allowed a certain percentage of people back in the stands, UFC did not.
The wait seems to be worth it. Dana White has announced that 15,000 fans would watch the PPV go down in Jacksonville, Florida.
This is the first time since UFC 248 that a ‘full capacity crowd will be present at a UFC event scheduled to take place on 24th April, 2021.
