Jorge Masvidal carries the Gamebred nickname and decided to explain what it is all about
Most top UFC stars carry a nickname and that is true for Jorge Masvidal too. The Welterweight star is called Gamebred in the Octagon, and he has had a pretty decent career.
The 35-year-old is the current BMF champion after defeating Nate Diaz at UFC 244. However, Masvidal has not fought since defeating Diaz.
Gamebred has talked a lot about the monetary problems in the UFC but had a small update regarding his name.

“Gamebred is an animal that has been bred to be game”
Gamebred is also one of the biggest trash talkers in the business, but he has done a lot of great things in the ring.
Masvidal was also in the running to face Kamaru Usman for the Welterweight title. However, that spot was taken by Gilbert Burns after a great performance.
While that shot might have gone, a huge turn of events could keep that door open.
Burns tests positive for Covid-19
MMA Junkie highlighted that Burns tested positive for Covid-19 and is out of UFC 251. Usman vs Burns was one of the top fights at UFC Fight Island, and it will be interesting to see what the UFC does next.
The next ranked opponent after Burns is Colby Covington and he tweeted that he was ready to face Usman.
You know who they’re gonna call Marty and it ain’t the Ghostbusters Junior! 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/9RgHd4Cczi
— Colby Covington (@ColbyCovMMA) July 4, 2020
Usman already has a win over Covington from a previous meeting while the next person on the list is Masvidal.
This tweet could have been a signal that he is ready to face Usman. However, finding a replacement fighter in less than a week might be difficult for the UFC.
Fighters need to train for weeks before taking up a clash, and seven days for a title fight is too much to ask for.
UFC stars are always in great shape but they often need to cut weight right before clashes too. The UFC does have a huge headache right now regarding this clash, and it will be interesting to see if someone is game to replace Burns.
