An emotional Jorge Masvidal spoke about his parents who have been of immense support in his MMA journey.
Masvidal is just a step away from greatness. He will be taking on Kamaru Usman in the main event of UFC 261 for the welterweight title. The BMF titleholder has vowed to end Usman violently and get his hands on the belt.
Masvidal entered the fighting scene when he was just 18. He was also a part of Kimbo Slice’s street fights, and hence his nickname ‘Street Jesus’.
The 36-year old has a legion of experience and he owes a lot of it to the support his parents showed when he was starting out as a fighter.
Speaking in an interview with Adam Catterall of BT Sport, Masvidal revealed that he would be teary-eyed if he sees his mother’s facial expressions when she gets know that he has won the title.
He then spoke about his father, who has been with him through his ups and downs, before going on to say that wrapping the waist around his father would be a surreal feeling.
Masvidal had the following to say, about his parents:
“My father has lived with me for a long time. Nobody knows my ups and downs more than my dad. Nobody knows the things that we’ve had to do to get to where we’re at. So to wrap the belt around my dad is like surreal to me. It is going to be quite a moment. When they wrap it around my waist – ‘Hey another belt’. When I give my dad that belt, that’s when I’m really gonna feel it all hit me.”
Colby Covington catches up with Jorge Masvidal’s wife Maritza
Covington posted a picture of himself alongside Jorge Masvidal’s legal wife Maritza (who is not in good terms with the fighter), holding a joystick.
Saying that Maritza has always been a good friend of his, Covington revealed that he caught up with her to reminisce their past and play some games.
He further, explained to the Schmo in an interview:
“We were playing games. We were catching up on the past. I used to be good friends with her and the family. At one point in time, me and Jorge Masvidal were very good friends. I was over at the house a lot of times. Hangin’ out with the kids, hangin’ out with his wife who he is legally married to – Maritza. We just wanted to have a little blast in the past, and talk a little bit about the future and everything that’s going on.”
Covington was also unhappy with the way Masvidal has been treating Maritza and her kids, and vowed to beat him up badly for doing so.
