“I’m going to leave him in critical condition” – Jorge Masvidal sends out a chilling warning to Colby Covington

Jorge Masvidal has said that the UFC 272 main event has nothing to do with Colby Covington

Jorge Masvidal vs Colby Covington fight is the main event of UFC 272. The fight is being promoted as a grudge match by UFC and rightly so. The two fighters hate each other as much as they know each other. Who would have thought that the ones who were close friends at the start of their career would be their biggest enemies?

Colby Covington is one of the loudest personalities in the welterweight division. Actually, this rise of Covington was the reason behind the separation of ‘The Chaos’ and Masvidal.

Since they got separated, Masvidal has also risen up the ranks and has earned a name for himself in the division. This probably could have played a part in what Masvidal had to say about the UFC 272 matchup between him and Covington.

Masvidal said:

He hasn’t broke – in all his pay-per-view combined- 500,000 pay-per-views, you know? I don’t have to say what I’ve sold, everybody knows. So it’s definitely solely because of my star power, nothing to do with his.” [via MMA Junkie]

UFC 272 will also mark the pair’s combined 10th time headlining a UFC card. Both these fighters have their own reach among UFC fans. Both are rivals to Usman which actually helps them in their brand value. Both are coming off after a defeat against Usman as well.

Jorge Masvidal on whom he hates the most among his opponents

Jorge Masvidal didn’t hold back when asked about the fighter he hated the most. He was quoted as saying:

Covington is definitely my most disliked. It’s nothing personal, it’s business. Since I got into it, I knew the type of people I’d be getting myself involved with, options that could happen, so forth and so forth. It’s somebody I firmly don’t like at all whatsoever.” [via MMA Junkie]

He further added

I’m hoping that the referee on the way to pulling me off of him slips on a banana peel and I get some extra shots in, really change his life and his face structure. Colby’s in critical condition on Monday. It’s bad. He’s gonna have a couple eye orbital fractures, a couple breaks here and there. But the main thing is I want to change his life, man. I want to change his life in a very drastic way and I’m gonna do everything I have in me to do that.” [via MMA Junkie]

If at all UFC wanted a promotion for this fight, it couldn’t have got any better than these words from Masvidal. It’s not going to be an easy fight for either of these fighters but a win over here can uplift their market.

This fight is not just about two contenders willing to have a shot at the title. This fight is more about the friends who turned foe, who are waiting for a chance to teach each other a lesson. The fight will no be less in anything in terms of intensity and is expected to provide a treat to the fans.
